LINZ, Austria - In one of the quickest Sony Ericsson WTA Tour finals of the year, Ana Ivanovic stormed to her ninth career title - and first in two years - at the Generali Ladies Linz, crushing Patty Schnyder in just 47 minutes, 61 62.

Ivanovic, seeded No.7, was strong throughout the week, not losing a set en route to her first final since Indian Wells in March 2009; and while she and Schnyder were tied at 4-all in their head-to-head, it was a good match-up for Ivanovic, who had won their last four meetings, all in straight sets.

Schnyder, who had beaten three straight seeds to reach her third career final in Linz - she was a runner-up in 2005 and 2007 - was no match for Ivanovic, who raced to a 61 50 lead and, after losing 30-0 leads in both of the next two games, closed it out with an easy serve game, capping the match with an ace.

"Patty's always a tough opponent and I didn't expect this kind of scoreline," Ivanovic said afterwards. "I had confidence from my last few matches and that helped me stay aggressive today. I took a lot of risks and stepped in a lot. I believed in my shots and made them count, and I'm very pleased with that."

"She was playing well from the start, taking the ball so early - not even hitting winners all the time, but hitting it so early," Schnyder said. "She knew what she was doing on every shot and she can beat anybody if she plays like that. I needed some help but there wasn't really a lot of help for me out there."

Although she was seeded, Ivanovic was also a wildcard into the draw, receiving a call the day before main draw play started after the late withdrawal of Serena Williams, who was to be the No.1 seed. The late arrival didn't hold her back.

"It's just amazing how some things turn out," Ivanovic said. "When I got the call I was really excited because I felt I was playing well, and I was excited to play more matches. This is my first title since I won here in 2008, so it's very special. I feel very good here and am really happy to have come back this week."

Ivanovic is one of 20 players in Tour history to rise to the No.1 ranking, but over the last two years had struggled to find that form again; this year she has shown flashes of it and despite falling as low as No.65 this past summer, this title run will keep pushing her up in the 20s. She had been to three semifinals already this year, at Brisbane, Rome and Cincinnati (the last two being Premier events).

There was a surprise in the doubles final, as No.2 seeds Renata Voracova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova upset No.1 seeds and Doha qualifier Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik, 75 76(6), a match that lasted over twice as long as the singles final (115 minutes to 47 minutes). It was Voracova's sixth Tour doubles title; it was Zahlavova Strycova's 10th (and fifth of the year).
