After capturing Linz alongside fellow Czech Renata Voracova - their first title in their sixth outing as a duo, Barbora Zahlavova Strycova is up to five doubles titles on the year, trailing only Gisela Dulko - who has six - for most in 2010.
Zahlavova Strycova's latest title may be her most memorable of the season, considering the competition, as she and Voracova - seeded second - ousted top-seeded Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik in a tight final on Sunday, 75 76(6).
"Kveta and Katarina are great champions and opponents - they are going to Doha, so they must be playing well - but we played well the whole match and were maybe a little bit better today," said Zahlavova Strycova, whose previous best result with Voracova was a runner-up showing in Bastad earlier this year. "It's been a good year overall - this is my fifth doubles title - but it's been a good year in singles for me as well, so I'm really happy about that."
Zahlavova Strycova now has 10 career doubles titles, while Voracova has six. Zahlavova Strycova's other titles this year have come alongside Iveta Benesova in Paris [Indoors], Monterrey and Tokyo [Pan Pacific] and with Polona Hercog in Acapulco.
As for Peschke and Srebotnik, in a year highlighted by winning two titles and qualifying for the season-ending WTA Championships - Doha 2010, they have now lost six finals, the others coming in Dubai, Stuttgart, Roland Garros, Eastbourne and Montréal.
"We are very happy to win the title, especially considering it was the first time we played together," said Chang, who had never won a Tour title of any kind until Sunday. "Thanks to Sony Ericsson, HP and the other tournament sponsors. I love Osaka and will be back."
"Thanks to my great partner, Kelly, for playing with me this week," said Osterloh, who now has three career doubles titles. "Also thanks to HP, Sony Ericsson and all the others who helped make this happen."
