All-Access Hour: Quotable Quotes
Francesca Schiavone

DOHA, Qatar - The elite eight spoke to the press before matches began at the WTA Championships - Doha 2010. Here's a taste of what they said...

Francesca Schiavone on how people in Italy react to her now...
"I'm walking in the street and they say, 'Hello, are you Francesca? You look smaller than on TV.' I say, 'No, don't tell me this. I work hours and hours to become big.' No, but I think the people enjoyed my big win. There were like two or three million, if I'm not mistaken, watching me. In Italy, that's a lot. It's fantastic. I can say thanks also, because after so many years of hard work, I'm really happy to receive these good emotions from the people."

Samantha Stosur on the Original Nine, founders of the WTA...
"Without them, who knows if we would be here now. We're really got to say thank you to those nine, especially Billie Jean, to stand up not just for women's tennis but women in general. It has been a huge accomplishment for her and now we're the ones who get to see the rewards for that. We owe a lot to Billie Jean and those original nine women who started all this."

Victoria Azarenka on grabbing the last spot in Doha just a week ago...
"The first couple of days last week I was really nervous because I didn't know if I was going to be the first or second alternate. Right before my first match in Moscow, they told me in the interview if I won that match I'd be in. It was big news and I got nervous - it was tough. When I qualified it was easier, but I was still ready to play in Moscow and trying to get ready to play here."

Kim Clijsters on experience triumphing at the Grand Slams this year - she was the youngest to win a Grand Slam in 2010 (at age 27)...
"I don't think it's coincidence. We have a new phase coming up, a bunch of younger girls who are doing well, they're definitely girls who can win a Grand Slam; but experience helps you through those big occasions. Francesca didn't have the experience of being in a Grand Slam final, but she had experience playing big matches, knowing herself and her emotions very well... Some players find their inner person a little bit faster than others. But experience definitely plays a role, especially in the last few stages of a Grand Slam."

Caroline Wozniacki on when she started believing she could be No.1...
"I've always believed in myself. Since I was a little girl it has been a dream and something I've been aiming for. I knew it was going to be tough and I knew it was about hard work and good choices, but I always believed it was possible."

Elena Dementieva on what the strength of the WTA is...
"The competition is really tough. This is what's so wonderful to see for the moment. It's not only about one or two favorites, it's about the possibility for all of us to hold the title in the end. This is what's so interesting for the crowd and for us as players, knowing we all have chances to win."

Vera Zvonareva on what becoming No.1 would mean to her...
"I'm a person who dreams big. I always try to go for it and give my all. I remember being a little girl, practicing and thinking, 'Oh, I want to be No.1. I want to win a Grand Slam. I want to win many tournaments.' But I understand it's very tough. All I can do is push myself and at the end of the day, if I gave everything I had, I'll be satisfied. But I also know if I do my best and play my best tennis, I can beat anyone on the other side of the net."

Jelena Jankovic on this being the tournament's last year in Doha...
"Doha is great. They have great hospitality here and treat us very well. The people are very nice. We've had everything we needed in the last couple of years. It's sad we aren't going to be playing here anymore. I have had such great memories and such good times the last few years. I'm thankful we were able to play in this part of the world and we're moving to another city next year."
