The WTA doubles scene has been wide open in recent months, with various teams emerging as potential new dominant forces.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci may very well be the next duo to keep an eye on, as they became the only pair to own multiple titles in 2011 with their triumph in Pattaya City on Sunday, having already won Hobart in January. That gave them four titles in their careers together, as they were victorious in Marbella and Barcelona last year, the first season they paired up other than Fed Cup. They also upped their career match record to an impressive 41-17.

Errani and Vinci, who each now have seven career doubles titles as individuals, were pushed in the Pattaya final, edging Chinese duo Sun Shengnan and Zheng Jie, 36 63 105. The Italians both had successful weeks in singles too, with Errani taking out her doubles partner in the semifinals before falling to Daniela Hantuchova in the final.

Another team with previous success together, albeit no titles, also got on the victory board Sunday, as Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy beat Russians Vera Dushevina and Ekaterina Makarova, 64 62, in the final in Paris.

The Americans did not drop a set all week in improving upon their previous best results together - runner-up showings in New Haven and Memphis last year.

"We've had a great year so far and it's great to win our first title together," said Mattek-Sands, who reached the quarterfinals with Shaughnessy in their two career Grand Slams as a duo - the 2010 US Open and 2011 Australian Open. "Meghann was clutch today. I was a little tired, so thanks to her for carrying me through. I'd like to thank the crowd for their support throughout the week. I really appreciate it."

Mattek-Sands now has nine doubles titles to her name, while Shaughnessy has 17.
