MEMPHIS, TN, USA - On Saturday night, Rebecca Marino will try to become just the sixth Canadian ever to win a WTA singles title. At the very same time, fellow Canadian Milos Raonic is on his own tear on the ATP World Tour, winning his first title last week in San Jose and now in another final in Memphis. They've had some memorable words about all of it this week...

I realize this is on the WTA website, but I have to give a shout out to a fellow Canadian who is doing very well at the present moment on the men's side. I went to watch a bit of Milos Raonic's match against Verdasco this evening. Milos is another Canadian tennis player, and he won his first ATP title last week in San Jose, funnily enough against Verdasco. They pulled each other first round here, so I wanted to watch a little bit of the match. I only watched the first set, but it was amazing the number of aces I saw! Also the bounces off the serve were so high it was going over the fence and into the crowd. I'm pretty sure a couple of people were centimeters away from bruises or black eyes! It ended up that Milos won... Also Daniel Nestor won his doubles match, so I feel I can say today was a great day for Canadians in Memphis.

There's a lot of buzz around Rebecca and she deserves all the success she's getting. What she's doing is positive for her and for Canadian tennis. It's good to have success on both sides - now everyone has someone to look up to.

I'm really proud to be Canadian. Canada is getting excited about tennis again. Hopefully everyone starts paying more attention to tennis, not just hockey!

There was a lot of snow here last week. Canada was coming in, so Memphis gave us a warm welcome. This is all something for us to be proud of - but it's only the beginning. Hopefully it's only the first chapter.

* Note: Daniel Nestor reached the men's doubles final in Memphis on Saturday afternoon... and over in Bogotá, Sharon Fichman was a runner-up in doubles with Spain's Laura Pous-Tio, losing to Edina Gallovits-Hall and Anabel Medina Garrigues, 26 76(6) 119 (Fichman and Pous-Tio held two match points, one at 6-5 in the second set tie-break and one at 9-8 in the match tie-break)
