MONTERREY, México - A dream final between the Top 2 seeds at the Whirlpool Monterrey Open has become a reality, as Jelena Jankovic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova had no trouble in their semifinals Saturday.

Jankovic, the No.1 seed, was the first of the two to advance, never losing her serve and taking just 70 minutes to beat No.8 seed Polona Hercog, 63 62.

"I didn't really know how she played before today," Jankovic said. "Every opponent is different so I try to do my best no matter who is on the other side."

Pavlyuchenkova, seeded No.2, had some close moments early on but completely broke away from Gisela Dulko from 3-4 in the first set, winning nine of the next 10 games to reach her second straight final here, 64 61.

"I'm really happy to make the final again. That was my goal when I came here," Pavlyuchenkova, the defending champion and now 9-0 lifetime in Monterrey, said. "Tonight I felt so much support from the crowd. They're the reason I was looking forward to being back here so much - I love them."

Pavlyuchenkova leads Jankovic in their head-to-head series, 1-0.

"It's going to be tough but I feel good," Jankovic commented on Sunday's title match. "I always try to be optimistic. I'm already happy to be in the final."

"Jelena has a lot of experience and has had great tournaments the last few weeks; in a way I have nothing to lose," Pavlyuchenkova said. "It's a dream final for me. At the same time, I try not to put a lot of pressure on myself."

Jankovic is 12-12 in her career in WTA finals; Pavlyuchenkova is 2-0.
