Quotable Quotes... Sania Mirza
Sania Mirza

CHARLESTON, SC, USA - A few years ago she was in the Top 30, her powerful forehand just one of the many weapons she used to give the top players all kinds of trouble. Last year was her first non-Top 100 season in six years but a strong start to 2011 already has her back in the elite, and now in Charleston she is through to her first Premier-level quarterfinal since San Diego in August 2007.

Here's a taste of what she said in her presser on Thursday evening...

On winning her third round match against Sabine Lisicki...
"We played once before, in Auckland just before the Australian Open, and I lost 7-6 in the third. So I knew it was going to be a tough match. Obviously Sabine was coming in after beating Bartoli, and I had a tough match also.

"My body is pretty tired. I've been playing since Saturday every day, having to come through qualies and playing doubles as well, so I haven't really had a day off. I've had a few niggles in my body now, but I'm happy to come through a match like that, where I think I could have played better. It's always good to come through your matches when you aren't playing your best."

After being told she played amazing in the match...
"I would like to hope I did. I feel like I'm close to my best now. I was Top 30 two years ago. With my wrist injury it has been a tough couple of years and I'm just happy to be healthy again. I couldn't even hold a fork last year for five months. And to be back playing tennis, it's like a new life - to be winning is a bonus."

On taking five and a half months off from tennis last year...
"Part of the reason why I had that wrist problem is because I have such a hypermobile wrist, but because of that I get the power and precision and stuff. But it's a disadvantage because I get injured in my joint. I've made other parts of my body stronger to kind of compensate a little bit and not depend completely on my wrist. I worked a lot on everything and tried to become stronger on the whole, and the rest - five and a half months of no tennis - helped."
