First Titles Together For Doubles Duos

Both of this week's doubles title winners were victorious for the first time as duos and both prevailed in match tie-break finals on Saturday.

At the Internationaux de Strasbourg, fourth-seeded Akgul Amanmuradova and Chuang Chia-Jung got past second-seeded Natalie Grandin and Vladimira Uhlirova, 64 57 102. They had played together twice previously, with their best result having been a semifinal showing at Pattaya City in 2009.

Amanmuradova now has two career doubles titles, while Chuang has 16 - seven with Chan Yung-Jan, three with Hsieh Su-Wei and one each with six others.

Meanwhile, at the Brussels Open, unseeded Andrea Hlavackova and Galina Voskoboeva took out No.2 seeds Klaudia Jans and Alicja Rosolska, 36 60 105.

"I had a great 2009 and winning tournaments became almost a habit, but when I won Fès this year I realized I hadn't won one for more than a year," said Hlavackova, who now has seven doubles titles, four of which came alongside Lucie Hradecka. "I'm very happy to win this Premier title. I'm enjoying the feeling of winning more because it's not something I expected, but something I really wanted."

"Playing together for the first time we didn't expect to win the title," said Voskoboeva, who has picked up all three of her career doubles titles this year. "We're really happy. We were very relaxed and got the maximum reward."
