COPENHAGEN, Denmark - World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki will showcase her talents before her home crowd as top seed - and defending champion - at this week's e-Boks Sony Ericsson Open, a $220,000 International event held on an indoor hardcourt in the Danish capital.

Though beaten by Daniela Hantuchova in the third round at Roland Garros, Wozniacki has enjoyed the most consistent success on the WTA this season, winning a tour-leading four titles (Dubai, Indian Wells, Charleston, Brussels), and compiling an unmatched 40-8 win-loss record. Her first round opponent, young American Irina Falconi, faces an uphill battle.

Klara Zakopalova, at No.2, is one of three Czech seeds in Copenhagen: lefty Lucie Safarova is No.4, and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova is No.5. Having decided not to pursue a dancing career at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, Sony Ericsson Xperia Hot Shot - who filmed a fun segment at the famous entertainment venue during the French Open - is the No.3 seed. This week the 26-year-old is making her debut in her new role as the US No.2, having overtaken Venus Williams in the rankings.

Anastasija Sevastova, Jelena Dokic and Alberta Brianti round out the seeds at six through eight; Dokic and Brianti have both enjoyed title runs this year, at Kuala Lumpur and Fès respectively.

The wildcards have been awarded to US player Julia Boserup, whose parents are Danish; 2010 Australian Open junior champion Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic; and 20-year-old Dane Malou Ejdesgaard, who faces Mattek-Sands first up.

Mattek-Sands and Melanie Oudin are the doubles top seeds. Unseeded in the singles, Oudin plays Michaella Krajicek in her opener.
