LONDON, England - Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond had been the most dominating doubles duo of the Wimbledon fortnight prior to Wednesday, having dropped a total of just five games through the first three rounds.

However, in their 47 76(1) 1311 quarterfinal upset loss against lucky losers Marina Erakovic and Tamarine Tanasugarn, the third-seeded Americans lost more than five times that many. Erakovic and Tanasugarn are having quite a fortnight in just their fourth event together, as they also stunned 10th-seeded Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in the previous round.

The other team that booked its place into the semifinals Wednesday was a more expected one, No.4 seeds Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina. The win was not easy, though, as they barely got past Nuria Llagostera Vives and Arantxa Parra Santonja, 36 64 75. It was just their latest victory in a year that has been full of them. Mirza and Vesnina, who teamed up for the first time at the beginning of 2011, have titles at Indian Wells and Charleston to go along with a runner-up showing at Roland Garros.

Winning their third round matches were sixth-seeded Nadia Petrova and Anastasia Rodionova, eighth-seeded Peng Shuai and Zheng Jie and Sabine Lisicki and Samantha Stosur.

"Woohoo! We are in the quarters," Rodionova tweeted. "I can get even more Wimbledon towels now."

"We won our doubles 64 63 today and are in the quarters now," Lisicki tweeted about the triumph over Sorana Cirstea and Ayumi Morita. "Had lots of fun out there again."

Lisicki and Stosur will take on Petrova and Rodionova in quarterfinal action Thursday, and Peng and Zheng will square off with second-seeded Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik. It will be an especially busy day for Lisicki, as she also has to play her singles semifinal against Maria Sharapova.
