Spanish Doubles Duo Dominates Bastad

It was a successful week for Spaniards in the two WTA doubles events that went on, with five of the eight finalists and three of the four winners from Spain.
Lourdes Domínguez Lino and María José Martínez Sánchez were playing together for just the second time - not including Fed Cup - and the first time since their semifinal showing at Bogotá in 2001. Nevertheless, the unseeded duo did not lose a set all week at the Collector Swedish Open in Bastad, including in their 63 63 victory over third-seeded Spaniards Nuria Llagostera Vives and Arantxa Parra Santonja in Saturday's final.
Domínguez Lino now has four career doubles titles, while Martínez Sánchez has 15 - nine of which came alongside Llagostera Vives.
Meanwhile, in Sunday's POLI-FARBE Budapest Grand Prix final, No.1 seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues and Alicja Rosolska finished up their first career event as a duo in style, disposing of No.2 seeds Natalie Grandin and Vladimira Uhlirova, 62 62.
Medina Garrigues, a runner-up at this event last year alongside Sorana Cirstea, now has 18 career doubles titles. The Polish Rosolska, the only non-Spanish doubles champion this week, now has three career doubles titles.
