NEW HAVEN, CT, USA - After helping out with the draw at the New Haven Open at Yale on Friday, one of the hottest players of the summer season so far - Agnieszka Radwanska - helped launch the Cybex Pink Ribbon Run.
The Pink Ribbon Run is just one of the initiatives the tournament has to raise awareness and funds to help in the fight against breast cancer. It offers players, fans, sponsors and media the opportunity to walk or run on a special pink treadmill, and for every mile logged, donations will be made to Susan G. Komen Connecticut Affiliate and the Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital.
"I am really happy to support a great initiative like this," said Radwanska, whose sizzling summer has include a title at the Premier-level tournament in Carlsbad.
Anyone can make a donation for each mile logged on the treadmill, or make a lump sum donation, by e-mailing pinkribbonrun@newhavenopen.com.
Also, the pink treadmill will be signed by all the WTA players and auctioned off after the tournament. Bids may be placed on www.charitybuzz.com, and all proceeds will be donated to the above breast cancer charities.
