Ranking Watch: Big Moves For First-Time Titlists
Ksenia Pervak

Both of last week's victors on the WTA made significant jumps on the rankings, Tashkent champion Ksenia Pervak ascending 15 spots and Québec City winner Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 26 spots. It was the first career singles title for both, making them the third and fourth players to achieve that feat this year. How were all four affected in the rankings that followed their triumph?

Player First Title Ranking Rise
Alberta Brianti Fès No.94 to No.67
Polona Hercog Bastad No.53 to No.37
Ksenia Pervak Tashkent No.52 to No.37
Barbora Zahlavova Strycova Québec City No.75 to No.49

Notes: After her title, Hercog also established a career-high, which she has since surpassed ... After her title, Brianti tied her career-high, which she has also since surpassed ... Zahlavova Strycova had the greatest climb this week among players in the Top 100 ... Pervak is one of 10 Russians in the Top 100. The most there has ever been was 13 the week of January 15, 2007.

Other moves of note were made by Marina Erakovic, Eva Birnerova and Sílvia Soler-Espinosa. Erakovic, who reached her first career final in Québec City, went from No.85 to No.63, her highest ranking since March 2009. Birnerova, who reached her first career final in Tashkent, went from No.115 to No.93, her first entry into the Top 100 since July 2007. Soler-Espinosa, victorious at an ITF Women's Circuit event, went from No.110 to No.90 to set a new career-high and make her Top 100 debut.
