BRISBANE, Australia - 2011 will hold some good memories for Vania King, but what will 2012 bring? By continuing her strong work ethic and with a fresh new website at her side, this could be the 22-year-old's best year yet.

This past year was good to King, who finished in the Top 100 for the fourth time in singles (highlights being third round showings at two of the Grand Slams) and in the Top 10 in doubles for the second straight year (scoring her best results with Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova, including a run to the US Open final).

In addition to her training for 2012, King took some time off in the off-season to recharge. "For my holiday break, I spent most of it at home and a couple of days in Vegas with my sister, Mindy. In the middle of my off-season training I went to Mark Knowles' charity event in the Bahamas, which was my first time going there. It was amazing. I would love to go back next year."

As the first matches of the new season took place in Brisbane on Friday - the first round of qualies at the Brisbane International - King picked up right where she left off. Seeded No.1 in the draw, King never lost her serve and needed less than an hour to rout one of Australia's rising stars, Ashleigh Barty, 61 62. She will next take on Russian-born Australian Anastasia Rodionova.

King's feelings on getting back to the courts couldn't be more positive. "I'm very excited about 2012!" she beamed. "I felt like last year I finished at a good level for my tennis, and for this year I would like to continue the good work, looking at the season as a whole, and not individual results. If I feel like I've improved and was enjoying my time on the court, I will be happy with the year."

There's another reason for King to look forward to this year - her official website, www.vania-king.com, has just launched. With bright visuals, easy navigation and just about everything you'd need to know about the American - including her beautiful singing voice in youtube form - it's one of the best websites out there.

"I've been meaning to put up my website for a long time, but I wanted to make sure everything was just right," King explained. "My sister, Mindy, designed and created it for me, with my personal touch! I think she did an amazing job. Right now is the perfect time to launch it as the start of the new season is here."
