Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond became the first duo with two titles this season when they rolled to victory in the Doha final a week after they were victorious in Paris. It was the sixth title of their almost-year-old partnership and raised their record since the start of last year's US Open to 27-3.
On top of that, it was the 50th career doubles title for Huber, who joined a list of 14 other players in the Open Era who have won at least that many. One of those happens to be Raymond, who now has 76 doubles titles, tied with Jana Novotna for sixth-most.
Here is how the doubles careers of Novotna, who retired in 1999, and Raymond, who has been on the WTA since 1993, compare in other statistical categories:
| Novotna | Raymond | |
| WTA Match Record | 668-143 (82.4%) | 758-272 (73.6%) |
| Grand Slam Match Record | 189-34 (84.8%) | 216-67 (76.3%) |
| Grand Slam Titles | 12 | 6 |
| WTA Championships Match Record | 17-9 (65.4%) | 13-7 (65.0%) |
| WTA Championships Titles | 2 | 4 |
| Fed Cup Match Record | 11-5 (68.8%) | 11-3 (78.6%) |
| Olympics Match Record | 9-3 (75.0%) | 1-1 (50.0%) |
| Olympics Titles | 0 (2 silver medals) | 0 |
| Mixed Grand Slam Titles | 5 | 4 |
Notes: Novotna won eight of the 12 matches in which she and Raymond played against each other in doubles ... Novotna and Raymond paried up together once, losing in the final of Los Angeles in '94.
