INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA - There were contrasting fortunes for the two seeded pairings in action on Day 4 of the BNP Paribas Open, as Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka advanced, while Nuria Llagostera Vives and Arantxa Parra Santonja crashed out.

No.3 seeds Hlavackova and Hradecka have been one of the form teams of 2012 thus far, winning two WTA doubles titles and sixteen matches prior to arriving in California. In the second round they faced Julia Goerges and Sabine Lisicki, defeating their potentially tricky opponents 62 64 in little over an hour.

Facing the Czechs in the quarterfinals will be the winners of the clash between Victoria Azarenka and Petra Kvitova and No.5 seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.

Saturday's other match saw No.7 seeds Llagostera Vives and Parra Santonja lose a tight two setter to Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jarmila Gajdosova. The Spaniards served for both sets, before eventually going down, 75 75.

Mattek-Sands and Gajdosova's reward for their upset win is a potential quarterfinal with the WTA's leading doubles team, Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond. First, though, the American duo, looking for their fourth consecutive title, must take care of Marina Erakovic and Monica Niculescu.

Also in action on Sunday are No.2 seeds Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina and No.4 seeds Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova.
