Miami Day 4 Preview
Victoria Azarenka

MIAMI, FL, USA - All 16 second round matches on the top half of the draw at the Sony Ericsson Open will be played Friday. Two of the highlights will involve Victoria Azarenka putting her undefeated season on the line and Petra Kvitova facing a far more difficult second round opponent than she is used to.

Friday, Second Round

[1] Victoria Azarenka (BLR #1) vs. Michaella Krajicek (NED #71)
first meeting
Victoria Azarenka brings a 21-4 career record in Miami, including the 2009 and 2011 titles, into her opener this year. But that's the least of the impressive statistics buoying her confidence these days. Her 23-0 mark so far in 2012, which has included four titles, is the best start to a season since Martina Hingis went 37-0 to kick off 1997. Former Top 30 player Michaella Krajicek has only played a World No.1 once in her career, falling to Maria Sharapova at Indian Wells in 2007. Her best results this year are quarterfinal showings in Memphis and Acapulco.

[3] Petra Kvitova (CZE #3) vs. [WC] Venus Williams (USA #134)
Kvitova leads 1-0
Yet to go beyond the semifinals in 2012 following a season that saw her win six titles, Petra Kvitova could not have been thrilled with her draw in Miami, where she has never been beyond the third round. Venus Williams, playing singles for the first time since the US Open, is a three-time champ here. She appeared in great form in her first round rout of Kimiko Date-Krumm. Kvitova did win their only previous clash in just her third career WTA main draw in Memphis in 2008.

Also on court...
No.5 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, yet to lose to anyone this year besides Azarenka, squares off with up-and-coming American teen Madison Keys. No.15 seed Ana Ivanovic, fresh off an impressive semifinal showing in Indian Wells, squares off with Vania King. Alisa Kleybanova looks for win No.2 since returning to the court after battling Hodgkin's lymphoma when she plays fellow Russian Maria Kirilenko.
