Roland Garros Day 10 Preview
Dominika Cibulkova

PARIS, France - The first two quarterfinals at this year's French Open take to the court on Tuesday, with Dominika Cibulkova taking on Samantha Stosur and Angelique Kerber meeting Sara Errani.

Tuesday, Quarterfinals

Court Philippe Chatrier
[15] Dominika Cibulkova (SVK #16) vs. [6] Samantha Stosur (AUS #6)
Head-to-head:
Stosur leads 1-0
Dominika Cibulkova may be the shortest player in the Top 100, but against Victoria Azarenka on Sunday she looked like a giant. For 107 minutes, Cibulkova outhit, outthought and outfought the World No.1 to secure a thrilling upset victory and advance to the last eight in Paris for the second time in four years.

Here she will meet 2010 French Open runner-up Samantha Stosur. Over the past few years, Stosur has established herself as one of the WTA's leading exponents of clay court tennis, with her trademark kick serve and big forehand propelling her to 55 wins on the surface since 2009.

Stosur's formidable weapons, lofty ranking and experience at the business end of majors see her start as favorite, but Cibulkova will not be daunted by the challenge; she holds 13 career Top 10 wins and demonstrated against Azarenka that she is certainly not afraid to fight fire with fire.

Court Suzanne Lenglen
[21] Sara Errani (ITA #24) vs. [10] Angelique Kerber (GER #10)
Head-to-head:
Kerber leads 1-0
When Sara Errani dropped the first set against Casey Dellacqua on the opening day of Roland Garros, an excellent clay court season looked in danger of finishing with a whimper. However, it is not by chance that the Italian has picked up titles in Acapulco, Barcelona and Budapest this spring, and she came back to defeat Dellacqua in three for her 19th win on the dirt in 2012.

Win numbers 20, 21 and 22 soon followed, with the last two coming against former champions Ana Ivanovic and Svetlana Kuznetsova. Next up is another of 2012's form players, Angelique Kerber, who is also bidding to reach a first semifinal in Paris.

With 36 match wins and two titles, Kerber has had just as successful a campaign as Errani, and after recently breaking into the Top 10 she is looking to confirm her status as Grand Slam contender in Paris. The pair's only previous meeting went the German's way on the hardcourts of Hobart this January and her edge in the power department could prove the difference once again on Tuesday.
