PARIS, France - Indian duo Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza capped a perfect week in the mixed doubles of the French Open on Thursday evening, taking out Santiago González and Klaudia Jans-Ignacik for the title, 76(3) 61.

Bhupathi and Mirza, who were the No.7 seeds, hadn't lost a set en route to the final and despite trailing 5-3 in the first set kept that pattern going, coming back to win the set in a tie-break then cruising against the Mexican-Polish pair.

"It was our third final and second Slam. We're very happy to win it," Mirza said. "We have been playing for a while now and have had consistent results."

"We play dangerous kind of tennis," Bhupathi said. "When we're playing well, it's kind of hard to beat us. And we always play well together. We played well the whole two weeks here in Paris, so I think we deserved to win."

The two were confident going into the tournament as well, despite the fact the field was stacked with talent. "Every time you enter a tournament you want to win it," Mirza said. "We were happy we could keep the level up over two weeks and come out playing well on the important points. I think that's what really matters in the mixed doubles, with the no-ad deuce and super tie-breaks."

And what's more - Bhupathi was celebrating his 38th birthday on Thursday.

"What more can a guy ask for on his birthday?" Bhupathi said. "That's an amazing day to play a Grand Slam final on your birthday - it's happened twice for me, both wins, and both here in Paris. Now we're going to celebrate."

"Funnily enough he said it when we were playing the first round," Mirza said. "He said, 'Last time I won on my birthday in Paris.' Maybe it's destiny. We were still in the first round. We kept winning and didn't want to jinx it, so we didn't mention it again. I'm happy I could be a part of this special day today."

Bhupathi and Mirza's first Grand Slam mixed doubles title was the Australian Open in 2009, which made Mirza the first Indian woman ever to win a Grand Slam title (and third Indian overall, after Bhupathi and Leader Paes).
