Completing The Set
The Golden Slam is a pretty special achievement. So special in fact that heading into the London Olympics only one female and two male players had achieved the feat. Now there is a fourth member of this exclusive club: Serena Williams.

And Serena, being Serena, completed her set in some style, dropping a paltry 17 games on her way to the top of the podium. Oh, and just for good measure, Serena also picked up a third doubles gold alongside her sister, Venus.

"Oh my gosh, this one is high up there, being Olympic gold champion, being golden slam champion singles and doubles, that's pretty awesome," Serena said. "I was thinking during the final, 'Serena, this is your best chance to win a gold medal. You played Wimbledon on grass. You played great on grass. Pull it together. You've got to do this.'"

Warning
After such a dominant week, Serena could be forgiven for resting on her laurels just a little. However, worryingly for her peers, the 30-year-old has no such plans.

"Lately I've just been focused only on tennis, nothing else, no distractions, no life," she said. "My life is practice in the morning, training in the afternoon. Wake up to practice in the morning, training. I've definitely been spending a lot more time on the tennis court. I have a nothing-to-lose attitude."

Breakthrough
Serena was not the only one making history in London; Victoria Azarenka became the first player from Belarus to win a tennis medal at the Games when she defeated Maria Kirilenko for bronze. And she enjoyed it on the podium so much that 24 hours later she came back after winning gold in the mixed doubles with Max Mirnyi.

While Serena, Maria and Vika were battling it out for medals in London, on the other side of the Atlantic, Magdalena Rybarikova was busy overcoming the Top 3 seeds, and some ridiculously hot weather, on her way to the Washington title.
