US Open Day 6 Preview
Agnieszka Radwanska

NEW YORK, NY, USA - The middle Saturday of the US Open sees Agnieszka Radwanska, Serena Williams and Ana Ivanovic all in action, as they look to secure fourth round berths.

Saturday, Third Round

Arthur Ashe Stadium
[30] Jelena Jankovic (SRB #27) vs. [2] Agnieszka Radwanska (POL #2)
Head-to-head:
Radwanska leads 2-1
When Agnieszka Radwanska trailed Carla Suárez Navarro by a set and 3-1 it looked like her US Open could be coming to a surprisingly premature end. Radwanska is No.2 in the world for a reason, though, and stormed back to win the next 11 games and with it the match. Her reward for this stirring comeback is a clash with a resurgent Jelena Jankovic.

After struggling to win a match for much of the summer, Jankovic finally arose from her slumber in Dallas, where she reached the final, and has carried this form into New York, cruising through the opening two rounds. The two have met on three previous occasions, with Radwanska's three set win in Dubai earlier this year giving her the head-to-head advantage.

Ekaterina Makarova (RUS #42) vs. [4] Serena Williams (USA #4)
Head-to-head:
series tied 1-1
According to the saying, revenge is a dish best served cold. In January, Ekaterina Makarova scored one of the biggest wins of her career when she knocked Serena Williams out of the Australian Open. Seven months later, the American gets her chance for payback.

Over the course of the summer, Williams has played some of her best tennis in recent memory en route to the Wimbledon title and Olympic gold. However, despite a comfortable enough scoreline, the three-time former champion showed a few signs of frailty against María José Martínez Sánchez in the last round. Makarova showed in Melbourne that she was more than capable of capitalizing on any drop-off in level and will not be fazed by the situation.

Sloane Stephens (USA #44) vs. [12] Ana Ivanovic (SRB #13)
Head-to-head:
Ivanovic leads 1-0
Regular patrons at Flushing Meadows will get a sense of déjà vu when they take their seats for the evening session on Arthur Ashe. Twelve months ago Ana Ivanovic and Sloane Stephens squared off for a place in the US Open fourth round and on Saturday they will do so once again. On that occasion Ivanovic won in straight sets, although the ever-improving Stephens is likely to present a sterner challenge this time.

Stephens has been one of the most improved players on the WTA in 2012, establishing herself as the youngest player in the Top 50 and putting in credible performances at all three majors. Ivanovic will try to keep the points short, dominating with her trusted serve-forehand combination, while Stephens, one of the quickest players on tour, will attempt to draw out the rallies and outmaneuver her opponent.

Around the grounds…
Fresh from her epic win over Venus Williams on Thursday night, last year's semifinalist Angelique Kerber takes on Olga Govortsova, while other third round matches to look out for include Dominika Cibulkova versus Roberta Vinci and the in-form Maria Kirilenko against Andrea Hlavackova.
