Quotable Quotes: Some Quotes From Queens
Kim Clijsters

NEW YORK, NY, USA - From med school to nail polish and gummy bears to Redfoo's hair, the stars of the WTA have been lighting up the press room after their matches this fortnight. Here's a taste of what they've said...

Kim Clijsters on if her daughter Jada understands her retirement...
"A couple of times this week she was like, 'Why don't you come with us to go out, to go for a walk?' I'm like, 'Mama is almost done. When I'm done with this tournament I'll be there, and I'll do all those fun things with you, or try to at least.' I think she's going to be excited to have her mom around more."

Kim Clijsters on where Serena rates in the history of the game...
"To me Serena is the best ever because physically she just stands out. When she's in good shape, she just stands out tremendously. She's fast, she's strong, and she has a very good eye, as well. The combination of all of those things - what we've seen from her the last few months is the best player ever."

Mallory Burdette on her plans for the future before the US Open, and how her success at the US Open may have changed those plans...
"I want to be a psychiatrist. So I was interested in med school. I would have finished my degree up and gone to some type of program where I could take all my pre-med requirements and then hopefully go to med school. I gave that a lot of thought at the beginning of the summer and was preparing for that - I still am, in a lot of ways - but my success has kind of taken me in a different path a little bit. I think my focus will be a little different when I go back to school."

Maria Sharapova on whether Sugarpova will compete with Nestle...
"It's mostly gummy bears and gumballs, which are sold out now. My friend wanted to put a consumer complaint. I was like, 'You can't do that. That's obnoxious. You're my friend.' Hopefully we'll expand. I do hope it goes into chocolate, caramels and all that - but for my body I really hope not!"

Sam Stosur on Redfoo from LMFAO being in her box during the week...
"He showed up late today. I might have to have a word to him about that. But if anything it probably puts a bit of a smile on your face when you look towards your box and you see that big hair and all that coming straight back at you."

Serena Williams on what she would be if not a tennis player...
"I decided the other day I would have been a rock star because I love to sing. Though I don't have a good voice, I'm great on stage."

Serena Williams on how her pre-match routines from her first Grand Slam final at the 1999 US Open differ from this Grand Slam final...
"I remember 13 years ago I painted my nails with OPI No Kidding polish every day, and before the final I did the same thing, red, OPI red. And then this year my nails are already done so I don't have to worry about it. Although I do have Pinking Of You in my purse as we speak, a nail polish color by OPI, too.

"That's the only thing I do. I have really gotten out of being so into routines because it can really drive someone bananas. I've been on the verge of going bananas because I have to have this, this, this - it wasn't helping me win. It wasn't helping me lose. It has nothing to do with that. I've chilled off on that."

Victoria Azarenka on whether she has fun during her matches, after her grueling three set semifinal win over Sharapova on Friday...
"Well sometimes it's not as fun, especially in that first set today it wasn't that fun. But I try to enjoy my moment. I feel like I don't want it to end. I'm living this great run, these great opportunities that keep coming at me, and I just want to continue and enjoy that ride. When I'm on the court, I feel like I'm in paradise. I'm in the most comfortable place I can be. So why not enjoy it?"
