Quotable Quotes: Goerges On Goals & More
Julia Goerges

LAGOS, Portugal - Julia Goerges had a lot to smile about in 2012 - two more WTA finals, cracking the Top 15 for the first time and hitting the fastest serve of the year, to name just a few. And now, with 2013 on the horizon, the classy German caught up with wtatennis.com about it all. Here she is...

On her personal highlights from the 2012 season...
"My highlights were reaching the finals of Dubai and Linz, for sure! But I also had some very good experiences with Jill Craybas, Kveta Peschke and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova - another great moment was making the doubles final with Anna-Lena Groenefeld in our only home tournament in Stuttgart."

On hitting the fastest serve of 2012, a 126mph heater at the French Open - a serve that also made her the third-fastest server of all time...
"I know it was an ace down the T from the deuce side! But that was from my team telling me that afterwards, because I didn't know. It was in my first round with Lucie Hradecka at the French Open."

On whether she took any time off or holidays at the end of the season...
"Yes I did take some time off, almost four weeks. I had Lasik surgery for my eyes and it's great. I can see 120% now and it feels amazing after using lenses and glasses for more than 10 years. I also spent a lot of time with friends - we went to a spa hotel to get relaxing massages and manicures and more!"

On her pre-season preparations for 2013...
"My pre-season training is going well! I'm with my team - including Jilly! We were in the Cascade Resort near Lagos. It was such a great place - there's everything you need for great practice time."

On whether she's big on Christmas, giving and getting presents, etc...
"I wasn't really at home for Christmas the last few years, so this year was a chance for me to be home on Christmas Day. I ordered most of my presents from the internet - and some presents I already had for a month and a half. So I don't really go Christmas shopping or anything!"

On her goals for 2013...
"My goal is to be more consistent in 2013. I need to play more matches at my top level."
