SALT LAKE CITY, UT, USA - USANA Health Sciences, a global nutritional company, announced on Thursday that Sloane Stephens will be its newest brand ambassador. The 19-year-old American will represent the international company alongside fellow WTA athletes and current USANA ambassadors Sam Stosur, Liezel Huber, Aleksandra Wozniak, Zheng Jie and recently retired Kim Clijsters. USANA has been providing its NSF and HFL-tested products to more than 150 WTA players since 2006.
"Our partnership with the WTA has been a natural one and we are proud to associate ourselves with these elite female athletes from around the world," said USANA's Dan Macuga. "We are excited to have Sloane join our growing list of ambassadors and to watch her continue to excel and grow as an athlete."
Stephens turned pro in 2009 and had a notable season, winning three of the four junior Grand Slam doubles titles with Hungarian partner Timea Babos (the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open). In her rookie season in 2011 she was the youngest player in the year-end Top 100 (at No.97) and in her follow-up season in 2012 she was the youngest player in the year-end Top 50 (and the only teenager).
"My career is just beginning and I am really excited to see what I can accomplish this season, as well as over the next few years," said the up-and-coming American tennis star. "With USANA's support and its high-quality products, I believe I can achieve great things both on and off the court."
Last week, Stephens kicked off her 2013 with a run to her biggest WTA quarterfinal at Brisbane (falling to Serena Williams) and on Thursday advanced to the semifinals in Hobart. Next week she will compete at the year's first Grand Slam, the Australian Open, alongside Stosur, Huber, Zheng and Wozniak.
