MELBOURNE, Australia - Maria Sharapova has had a lot of dominating performances in her legendary career, but has taken it to a new level in her first two matches at the 2013 Australian Open.

Sharapova beat Olga Puchkova in the first round, 60 60, and then Misaki Doi by the same score in the second round on Wednesday. It was the first time in 28 years a player recorded consecutive 60 60 scorelines at a major. Here is a list of each time that has happened in the Open Era:

1973 Australian Open: Margaret Court in R16, QF (won tournament)
1985 Australian Open: Wendy Turnbull in 1r, 2r (lost in R16)
2013 Australian Open: Maria Sharapova in 1r, 2r

"It's not really the statistic I want to be known for," said Sharapova, who now has five 60 60 wins in her career. "I want to be known for winning Grand Slam titles, not that I won two matches 60 60. I'm just happy that I won the match."

Here is a list of the other times players have won, 60 60, twice in one major but not consecutively:

1984 French Open: Chris Evert in 2r, SF (lost in F)
1998 Australian Open: Mary Pierce in 1r, R16 (lost in QF)
1993 Wimbledon: Steffi Graf in 1r, 3r (won tournament)

Next up for Sharapova is seven-time Grand champion Venus Williams, so her 60 60 streak will almost certainly come to an end, but a good omen for her is the last time before this fortnight she won a match 60 60 at a major, she went on to take the title at the 2012 French Open.
