Quotable Quotes: Victoria Azarenka
Victoria Azarenka

MELBOURNE, Australia - The winner of the first set had won 24 of the last 25 Grand Slam finals - but Victoria Azarenka would have none of that. Hear what she had to say after a comeback to remember.

On how she felt about everything...
"I feel really happy right now. It's been a long match. It's been a tough match. Li Na was absolutely playing great tennis. Unfortunate things happened to her - but that's sport. I'm just happy that after everything I went through, I still managed to go out there and give my best, try to focus on my game and play the tennis I can produce. And that's the thing I love to do, is to compete."

On why she think she won the match...
"You have to take the opportunity on the important moments. In the second set, in the third set, that's what I was doing better. In the first set she was really on top of me - she was really going for her shots and making everything happen. I had to readjust and really take advantage of my opportunities."

On whether being the defending champion made it more difficult to win...
"I never thought about it this way, to be honest. My mentality was to come and try to win another title. That was my main goal. It was definitely not easy with all the attention, with all the press around - but it was definitely a new experience for me and I think I handled it quite well, and I can only learn from this experience and move forward and try to improve as a player and as a person, as well."

On whether her star-studded support crew will travel with her to more Grand Slams...
"I hope so. I really do."

On whether she will text fellow year-end No.1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic...
"Can you give me his phone number, then I'll do that! I don't have his phone number, honestly."

On an earlier statement that she feels she is becoming a better person over the years...
"You know, when I first came on the tour I was kind of lost, a little bit. I didn't know how to open up my personality. It's very difficult when you're alone. I was independent since I was 10 years old. I went to the States for the first time when I was 10 years old. It was a little bit scary and I wouldn't show my personality. So the whole last couple of years I've learned how to open up to people and share the moments with them and how to talk to you guys, as well. I wasn't really good before. I hope I get better.

"That's my thing, is to show the personality I really have, outside the court as well. On the court I'm really focused, I'm really determined, I'm going to do the job that I have, and I'm going to have the face that I have, and I'm going to be the way that I have to be to be the better tennis player.

"But off the court, I'm a different person a little bit."
