CALI, Colombia - The final of the Copa Bionaire will be contested between Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino, who has posted the best results of her career in Colombia, and Catalina Castaño, who grew up a little over 100 miles from the tournament site.

Second-seeded Spaniard Arruabarrena-Vecino was not broken in her 63 61 semifinal defeat of Paula Ormaechea on Saturday. She is now 2-1 in her series with the Argentine, with the last clash before this week coming in the quarterfinals of Bogotá a year ago. Arruabarrena-Vecino went on to capture her lone WTA title that week and now is a win away from her first WTA 125K Series title.

Standing in Arruabarrena-Vecino's way will be crowd favorite Castaño, who was born in and still resides in nearby Pereira. A wildcard entrant into this event, Castaño recorded a rollercoaster 26 64 64 triumph over No.6 seed Elina Svitolina. She trailed 62 44 before seizing the momentum and winning the second set, then after taking a 5-1 third set lead lost three straight games before clinching it on her fourth match point. Having secured the title in Pune last November, Svitolina had an eight-match winning streak going in WTA 125K Series events before falling short against Castaño.

The 33-year-old Castaño was the oldest player in the field this week and though she is a six-time winner on the ITF Women's Circuit - including at Cali in 2000 - a WTA 125K Series title would be the biggest victory of her career.

No matter what happens in the singles final, it has already been a week to remember for Castaño, as she was victorious in the doubles final on Saturday alongside fellow Colombian Mariana Duque-Mariño. They were 36 61 105 winners over Florencia Molinero and Teliana Pereira. At their last outing in Bastad last July, Castaño and Duque-Mariño picked up their first WTA title as a duo.
