Jankovic Conquers Bogotá
Almost exactly three years after her most recent title at Indian Wells in March 2010, Jelena Jankovic collected her 13th WTA title at the Copa Claro Colsanitas. In the process, she improved to 13-16 in WTA finals, snapped a five-match losing streak in WTA finals.

Jankovic's victim in the final, Paula Ormaechea, has enjoyed her best success in Bogotá. Her previous best showing at a WTA event was a quarterfinal appearance there last year.

Also in Bogotá, Teliana Pereira become the first Brazilian to reach the semifinals of a WTA event since Luciana Corsato at Sao Paolo in 1990.

Erakovic Masters Memphis
A year after being runner-up in Memphis, Marina Erakovic downed Sabine Lisicki there for her first WTA title. She is the first player from New Zealand to win a WTA title since Belinda Cordwell captured Kallang in 1989. She is also the first player this year to save match point en route to a WTA title, as she saved one in her first round victory over Annika Beck.

Ranking News
- Venus Williams moved up a spot to No.20, returning to the Top 20 for the first time since May 2011.
- Memphis semifinalist Stefanie Voegele had the greatest ascension within the Top 100 in going from No.89 to No.71.
