WTA Diary: First Titles & First Ladies
Sara Errani

Every week there's a lot happening on the WTA - on the court, off the court, by the numbers, even a few tweets... catch up on it all in this week's WTA Diary.

Going Loco
Acapulco first rose to prominence in the 1950s as a haven for Hollywood's A-listers, such as Frank Sinatra and Brigitte Bardot. And over the past decade the picturesque Mexican resort, host each February to the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL, has become just as popular among the WTA's own set of superstars.

The tournament holds a particularly special place in the heart of Sara Errani. Twelve months ago, Errani began a journey that would end in a maiden Grand Slam final with victory in Acapulco, and on Saturday evening she began retracing her steps by defending her title against Carla Suárez Navarro.

Eighteen And Counting
Errani's triumph in México takes her up to a WTA-leading 18 wins for the season.

First Timers
Also in the winner's circle over the weekend were Monica Niculescu and Karolina Pliskova, who took home their maiden WTA titles in Florianopolis and Kuala Lumpur.

Niculescu's triumph wasn't the only first in Florianopolis either; after nine semifinal defeats (seven in singles, two in doubles), Anne Keothavong finally reached her first WTA final, partnering Valeria Savinykh to a runner-up finish in the doubles.

It's Arrived
Do you know what day today is? Yes, Monday, but it's also the first ever World Tennis Day. The day is aimed at increasing participation in tennis around the globe with the help of showpiece exhibitions in New York and Hong Kong featuring Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Wozniacki and Agnieszka Radwanska as well of some of the ATP's biggest names.

@CaroWozniacki (Caroline Wozniacki)
Happy world tennis day! Looking forward to play in the Exo tonight in Hong Kong with Aga Radwanska!

@ashbar96 (Ashleigh Barty)
Happy World Tennis Day! We are all so lucky to be able to play the sport we love!

@rennaestubbs (Rennae Stubbs)
Nasdaq bell ringing then it's on to promote #WorldTennisDay culminating in Tennis at MSG between Serena v Vika, Rafa v DePotro! Truly global

Let's Move!
A back problem may have forced Serena to pull out of the recent Premier event in Dubai, but with the help of some new training partners - including one Michelle Obama - she has kept herself ticking over.

Who's a Belieber?
While he may not be the Diary's cup of tea, immaculately-coiffeured Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber certainly has a fan or two around the world. Among their number are a couple of the WTA biggest names. But who are the guilty parties?
