WTA Diary: Shock Waves In Indian Wells
Agnieszka Radwanska

Every week there's a lot happening on the WTA - on the court, off the court, by the numbers, even a few tweets... catch up on it all in this week's WTA Diary.

Match
Agnieszka Radwanska overcame some late jitters to defeat Sorana Cirstea in a rollercoaster third rounder in Indian Wells on Sunday evening. Having recovered from the loss of a tight opening set to take the second and then build a seemingly insurmountable lead in the decider, Radwanska twice failed to serve out the match before eventually dragging herself across the finishing line.

The highlight of her 67(3) 63 64 win? This.

Major Shock
Where Cirstea failed in her attempt to send shockwaves through Indian Wells, though, the San Andreas Fault succeeded when a earthquake struck on Monday morning.

The quake measured 4.7 on the Richter scale and while it only caused minor damage on site, the aftershocks are still reverberating around the Twittersphere…

Just experienced a pretty big earthquake right now... Wow... #nervous

The Start Of Something Special?
As the first American since 1982 to finish as year-end junior No.1, big things are expected of Taylor Townsend. Only time will tell if the 16-year-old can make it all the way to the top but she certainly made a bright start, defeating World No.57 Lucie Hradecka on her WTA debut on Thursday.

As an interesting aside, only four of the current Top 10 won their first main draw match.

Up For Grabs
While the singles draw may have gone largely to the form book, the same cannot be said for the doubles. In fact, with the quarterfinal line-up now set, only three seeded pairings remain.

Pop Quiz Time!
Before the start of the BNP Paribas Open, the WTA's Top 8 sat down for a little pop quiz to find out how well they know each other. What ensued was a lot of long pauses, a lot of confused looks and a lot of wrong answers.

Fail To Prepare...
Maria Sharapova has been at the top of the tennis tree for the best part of a decade and here's a glimpse into how she's stayed there.

Vika's Playlist
The Diary has often wondered what's playing from Victoria Azarenka's headphones when she bops out onto court? Luckily, the Diary was not alone…
