In securing her first WTA title of the year, the 28th of her career and her second in Indian Wells, Maria Sharapova joined all kinds of lists.

- Sharapova has now won at least one WTA title for 11 consecutive seasons. She is one of six players with at least that many:

Russians Crowned In Doubles
Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina were extended to match tie-breaks four times, including in the final against Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik, but emerged with their third WTA title as a duo at the BNP Paribas Open. They are now 18-1 dating back to last September, and since that time have also collected Premier-level titles at Beijing and Moscow.

Makarova now has four WTA doubles titles to her name, while Vesnina has nine - three of which have come at Indian Wells. Those previous titles came with Dinara Safina in 2008 and Sania Mirza in 2011.

- On top of this being the first time Russians swept the singles and doubles titles at Indian Wells, this was the sixth straight year at least one Russian appeared in the Indian Wells doubles final:
