Williams and fellow WTA player Arina Rodionova were joined on the court by fans and members of the media and split into two teams to compete in a series of World TeamTennis-style matches. Team Venus included Sports Illustrated writer Courtney Nguyen and fans Lee Propes and Pam Witt, while Team Arina included the Tennis Channel's Danielle Dotzenrod and fans Kelly Walden and Lisa Keller.
The members of each team all had their turn on court as Williams and Rodionova tried to coach them to victory. They were all looking sharp in EleVen apparel, wearing the black and white Oh & Oh Love Tanks with black skirts - the ballkids were wearing EleVen t-shirts, too. Team Venus won, 6-2.
"I wanted to have an event where everyone had fun, looked good and played well," Williams said. "We had been planning it for a few months and the Family Circle Cup did a great job helping us organize it. I'd really like to thank them, and I'd like to thank everyone else who helped and participated."
Williams started EleVen by Venus in 2007 and, after years of developing it, relaunched it in 2012 as a true active lifestyle brand available to customers, with the motto, 'Look Good, Play Well.'
An innovator and entrepreneur off the court, Williams is a legend on the court, with 22 Grand Slam titles under her belt across all three disciplines (seven in singles, 13 in doubles and two in mixed doubles). She has been ranked No.1 in the world in both singles and doubles and has four Olympic gold medals to her name as well, one in singles (2000) and three in doubles (2000, 2008 and 2012).
Williams is also a former champion at the Family Circle Cup, winning the title in 2004 - the No.5 seed at this year's event, she will begin her quest to regain the Premier-level title on Wednesday.
