Stats Corner: The Williams Rivalry
Serena Williams, Venus Williams

CHARLESTON, SC, USA - Serena Williams and Venus Williams will resume their legendary rivalry in the semifinals of the Family Circle Cup on Saturday with their first clash in over three years - the longest gap between matches they have ever had. Here are some other noteworthy statistics in the history of their over 15-year-old series:

Click here for a full rundown of the Williams sisters' history against each other.

- Serena leads 13-10 in the series.

- There have been three winning streaks of at least three matches, with Venus winning the first three matches in the series from 1998 through 1999, Serena winning a series-best six straight from 2002 through 2003 and Serena currently in the midst of a four-match win streak that started in 2009.

- Serena leads 9-7 in hardcourt matches and 3-2 in grass court matches. They are tied, 1-1, in clay court matches. Both of those matches were on red clay, therefore Saturday will be their first encounter on green clay.

- Serena leads 1-0 in International-level matches. Venus leads 4-2 in Premier-level matches. Serena leads 7-5 in Grand Slam matches. Serena leads 2-1 in WTA Championships matches, and also was victorious in their clash at the Grand Slam Cup in 1999.

- Serena leads 8-3 in finals and 3-2 in semifinals. Venus leads 5-2 in all other matches.

- Serena leads 6-3 in three-set matches.

- Serena leads 8-5 in tie-breaks. In every match where a tie-break was played, the player who won the tie-break won the match. Three of those were third set tie-breaks, with Serena winning two of them.

- The most lopsided scoreline was Serena's 62 62 win in the semifinals of Miami in 2002. The only 6-0 set in the series occurred in round robin action at the 2008 WTA Championships, with Venus a 57 61 60 victor.

- The winner of the first set has won all but three encounters. Those were Serena's 46 64 62 win in the 2003 Wimbledon final, Venus' 57 61 60 win in round robin action at the 2008 WTA Championships and Serena's 57 64 76(4) win in round robin action at the 2009 WTA Championships.

- They have met three times with one of them ranked No.1 in the world and the other No.2, with Serena winning all three of those match-ups.
