WTA Diary: Stats, Sandals & Sliding
Roberta Vinci

Every week there's a lot happening on the WTA - on the court, off the court, by the numbers, even a few tweets... catch up on it all in this week's WTA Diary.

First Blood To Italy
In a dress rehearsal of the upcoming Fed Cup tie between the Czech Republic and Italy, Petra Kvitova took on Roberta Vinci for the inaugural Katowice title on Sunday. On this occasion, it was Vinci's craft and guile that won the day, as she survived Kvitova's early onslaught to lift her eighth career title with a 76(2) 61 victory.

Big Guns
Talking of Fed Cup, Vinci and Kvitova aren't the only big names in action this coming weekend. In the most deliberate signals of intent, the USA have named Serena and Venus Williams in their team for the World Group playoff with Sweden in Delray Beach, Florida.

Stat
In eight singles and three doubles rubbers, Serena has never lost a match.

Lucky Charm
And what's the secret behind her success in Fed Cup action? Simple, a lucky pair of sandals.

Aga's Exo
Poland's No.1, Agnieszka Radwanska, may have been absent from the singles draw in Katowice, but in between study sessions, she still found time to make an appearance at the latest addition to the WTA calendar.

Coaching Corner
Thanks to some hard graft and a little bit of tough love, things have been going fairly well for Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of late, and they could be about to get that little bit better; for the upcoming clay court season, the Russian will have five-time major champion Martina Hingis in her corner.

Hingis has worked with Pavlyuchenkova in the past, as part of her consultant role at Mouratoglou, and will begin her new assignment in the build up to the Fed Cup tie between Russian and Slovakia.

500 And Counting
Thanks to her semifinal run in Miami, Jelena Jankovic became the 35th player to reach 500 match wins. Click here to find out the other 34.

Slider(wo)man
In the last entry from her WTA blog, six-time clay court finalist Klara Zakopalova revealed the secret to sliding.

Golf Master?
As you may or may not have heard, Caroline Wozniacki spent some of last week clad in a rather fetching white boiler suit caddying for boyfriend Rory McIlroy at the Master's pre-tournament Par 3 competition. She also had a go herself.

@CaroWozniacki
Had a blast being @McIlroyRory 's caddie today! Glad I am not wearing the boiler suit any time soon again tho! #toohot
