ROME, Italy - Francesca Schiavone and Samantha Stosur recorded a routine win on a Tuesday full of doubles routs at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.

Schiavone and Stosur's signature moment on clay occurred on the opposite sides of the net, when Schiavone bested Stosur in the 2010 French Open singles final. They are paired up in a WTA event for just the third time this week and the first time in two years.

In Schiavone and Stosur's opener, they were 63 61 winners over Daniela Hantuchova and Anabel Medina Garrigues in 59 minutes. Next up for the Italian-Australian duo are No.6 seeds Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sania Mirza.

Mattek-Sands and Mirza, already victorious twice this year, took one minute less for a 61 63 triumph over Shuko Aoyama and Liga Dekmeijere.

"It's tough when you're playing people you don't really know, as I've never played either of them," Mirza said. "We had a big lead and then it kind of got close. It's important to focus when you have big leads, and that's what we tried to do."

"We did a good job working on our game plan, our game style," Mattek-Sands said. "A win's a win and on to the second round."

Seventh-seeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke had the quickest and most lopsided win of the day, 61 61, over Oksana Kalashnikova and Alicja Rosolska in 50 minutes. Their second round opponents will be Jelena Jankovic and Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, whom they were just beaten by in their Madrid opener last week.

Also rolling were Kristina Mladenovic and Galina Voskoboeva, 61 62, over Natalie Grandin and Vladimira Uhlirova in 50 minutes. In the closest match of the day, Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai got past Maria Elena Camerin and Karin Knapp, 75 64. Hsieh and Peng are four-time WTA titlists, including Rome in 2009.

Among Wednesday's scheduled matches are No.1 seeds and defending champions Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci against Mladenovic and Voskoboeva. Errani, Vinci, Mladenovic and Timea Babos are tied for the WTA lead with three doubles titles so far this season.
