PARIS, France - It's still fairly early in the fortnight at Roland Garros, but already some interesting statistics have emerged. Here are the most noteworthy items:

- Marina Erakovic is the first Kiwi ever to make the third round of the French Open. If she wins her next match against Sloane Stephens, she will be the first Kiwi to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam since Belinda Cordwell at the 1989 Australian Open.

- Five Americans have secured third round spots - Jamie Hampton, Varvara Lepchenko, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Sloane Stephens and Serena Williams. That is the most to advance that far here since six did so in 2004. Here is a list of them:
Jennifer Capriati (SF)
Lindsay Davenport (4r)
Marissa Gould (3r)
Meghann Shaughnessy (3r)
Serena Williams (QF)
Venus Williams (QF)

- Three Germans are into the third round - Angelique Kerber, Sabine Lisicki and Dinah Pfizenmaier. That is the most to make it that far at Roland Garros since three did so in 1996. Here is a list of them:
Steffi Graf (W)
Anke Huber (4r)
Barbara Rittner (4r)

- Monica Puig is into the third round, making her the first player representing Puerto Rico to ever make it this far at a Grand Slam.

- Julia Glushko will surpass Shahar Peer as Israeli No.1 after the French Open. The last time Peer wasn't the top-ranked Israeli was February 2006.
