PARIS, France - Two days after they started their first round match at the French Open, defending champions and No.1 seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci finally finished off the win.

Errani and Vinci were up a set but down a break against Spaniards Lourdes Domínguez Lino and Garbiñe Muguruza when rain washed out play Thursday. With both Italians playing singles on Friday, they didn't resume their doubles opener until Saturday. After dropping the second set, Errani and Vinci rebounded for a 63 36 62 victory that saw them convert on seven of 10 break point opportunities.

Now 25-5 on the season, the doubles World No.1s next take on wildcards Julie Coin and Pauline Parmentier. In their one previous meeting with the Frenchwomen, Errani and Vinci barely squeezed by in a match tie-break in the quarterfinals of Paris earlier this year, though that was indoors at the Open GDF SUEZ.

Other first round winners were 15th-seeded Chan Hao-Ching and Darija Jurak, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Flavia Pennetta and Cara Black and Marina Erakovic.

Seeded duos advancing to the third round were No.2 seeds Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka and No.11 seeds Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Lucie Safarova. 2011 Roland Garros titlists Hlavackova and Hradecka improved to 14-3 here with a 75 16 60 defeat of Sorana Cirstea and Ayumi Morita. Pavlyuchenkova and Safarova, victorious in Madrid in their last outing, made it seven straight wins with a 62 64 triumph over Caroline Garcia and Mathilde Johansson.

There was one second round upset, with Olga Kalashnikova and Alicja Rosolska edging No.8 seeds and recent Rome champions Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai, 46 60 64.

Among the victors in first round mixed doubles action were third-seeded Katarina Srebotnik and Nenad Zimonjic. Srebotnik's five mixed doubles Grand Slams titles includes three French Opens, two of which came alongside Zimonjic in 2006 and 2010.

No.3 seeds Nadia Petrova and Srebotnik and No.4 seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina are among the women's teams scheduled to play their third round matches on Sunday.
