French Open Sunday: Sveta Seeks QFs
Svetlana Kuznetsova

PARIS, France - Former French Open champions Svetlana Kuznetsova, Serena Williams and Ana Ivanovic all take the court in pursuit of quarterfinal spots.

Sunday, Fourth Round

Court Philippe Chatrier
[8] Angelique Kerber (GER #8) vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS #39)
Head-to-head: Kerber leads 2-1
Svetlana Kuznetsova is the only unseeded player left on the top half of the draw, but she also is tied with Maria Sharapova for the best Roland Garros win percentage among active players at 81.6%. Her French Open fortnights have been highlighted by a title in 2009 and runner-up showing in 2006. A defeat of Angelique Kerber would put her in back-to-back Grand Slam quarterfinals for the first time since that 2009 French Open. On top of that, it would give her three Top 10 wins this year and 125 Grand Slam match wins in her career.

Kerber has won both of her 2013 clashes with Kuznetsova, with their most recent meeting in the third round of Madrid being a thriller that ended 7-5 in the third set. While three Germans made the third round, Kerber is the only one who made it out - her fifth straight Grand Slam in which she reached at least the fourth round. A quarterfinalist here last year, she is looking to ensure that Germany is represented in the Roland Garros quarterfinals for the third straight year.

[1] Serena Williams (USA #1) vs. [15] Roberta Vinci (ITA #15)
Head-to-head:
Williams leads 2-0
The only 30-somethings left in the top half of the draw will face off in the form of Serena Williams versus Roberta Vinci. It also represents a match-up of World No.1 in singles Williams against co-World No.1 in doubles Vinci. And technically, Vinci was champion here more recently than Williams, as she was victorious in doubles here last year with Sara Errani, while Williams' Roland Garros singles title occurred in 2002 and doubles titles in 1999 and 2010.

Williams has surrendered just six games in three matches this week, best of the field, in extending her career-best win streak to 27 - the WTA's third-best streak since 2000. In the process, she has passed sister Venus Williams for most French Open wins among active players. One more would make her 40-2 on the year and 20-0 on clay. As for Vinci, she has been extended to three sets in two of her matches, but is into the fourth round of Roland Garros for the first time. She already has one victory over a reigning World No.1 on her résumé, having beaten Caroline Wozniacki at Toronto in 2011.

Court Suzanne Lenglen
[4] Agnieszka Radwanska (POL #4) vs. [14] Ana Ivanovic (SRB #14)
Head-to-head: Radwanska leads 6-3
Ana Ivanovic will surely have revenge on her mind when taking on Agnieszka Radwanska for the 10th time. Not only has she lost six straight in their series, but the last five have been in straight sets - including another fourth round match at January's Australian Open.

Ending the skid will be a tall order, as former Roland Garros junior champion Radwanska comes into this encounter in especially good form - having dropped just 14 games through three matches this week. This is her fourth time making the French Open fourth round, but she has yet to go beyond. Ivanovic is seeking her first French Open quarterfinal appearance since capturing her lone Grand Slam title here in 2008. She is looking to snap a nine-match losing streak against Top 5 players, with her last win coming over then-No.4 Caroline Wozniacki at Indian Wells in 2012.

Around the grounds…
2012 Roland Garros runner-up Sara Errani looks for her sixth win in nine encounters with Spanish No.1 Carla Suárez Navarro.
