PARIS, France - Cara Black and Marina Erakovic were among a couple of unseeded duos securing quarterfinal spots at the French Open on Monday.

Former doubles World No.1 Black has been a runner-up here once and a semifinalist four times, yet it remains the one title holding her back from a career Grand Slam. She looks to be a contender for the crown once again, as she and Marina Erakovic have yet to surrender a set this fortnight. In fact, they are now 10-2 on the year - with their résumé highlighted by consecutive finals in Madrid and Strasbourg last month.

In their 64 75 third round defeat of Francesca Schiavone and Samantha Stosur, Black and Erakovic converted on five of seven break point opportunities compared to just three of 11 for the Italian-Australian pairing. The competition gets stiffer in the quarters in the form of No.2 seeds and 2011 French Open champions Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka, who were 63 76(0) winners over No.13 seeds Zhang Shuai and Zheng Jie to improve to 15-3 at this event.

Also advancing to the quarterfinals were Varvara Lepchenko and Zheng Saisai, who are no strangers to Grand Slam success - having been surprise semifinalists at January's Australian Open.

In second round action, No.1 seeds and defending champions Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci recorded their most lopsided scoreline since a 60 60 win in the first round of the 2012 Australian Open, with a 60 61 rout of Julie Coin and Pauline Parmentier in which the Italians did not commit an unforced error. No.7 seeds Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sania Mirza also were victorious, as were No.10 seeds Kristina Mladenovic and Galina Voskoboeva. All three second round winners will play their third round matches on Tuesday.

Black, Hradecka and Mladenovic also were all triumphant in mixed doubles play, with Black and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, Hradecka and Frantisek Cermak and Mladenovic and Daniel Nestor scoring quarterfinal wins.
