ESPN Films' and espnW's film slate Nine for IX will premiere on July 2 on ESPN with Venus Vs.

Venus Vs. details Venus Williams' fight to get female tennis players equal prize money as the men at the French Open and Wimbledon.

In addition to lobbying Parliament, UNESCO and Fleet Street, Williams wrote an op-ed piece in The London Times supporting her cause - with her wish being granted in 2007, the same year she won the fourth of her five Wimbledon titles.

Venus Vs. is directed by Ana DuVernay, with creative input from Billie Jean King and John McEnroe. A writer, producer, director and distributor of independent film based in Los Angeles, DuVernay won the "Best Director Award" at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival for her second feature film, Middle of Nowhere.

Other Nine for IX film topics include an intimate look at former Tennesse women's basketball coach Pat Summitt, the largely unknown history of Katarina Witt and her link with East Germany's secret police and the focus of sex in the marketing of female athletes. The movies, with the same producers as the critically acclaimed "30 for 30" film series, will air on consecutive Tuesdays starting with Venus Vs.
