WTA Odds N' Ends: Simona Sizzling
Simona Halep

Simona Halep's superb form continued in 's-Hertogenbosch last week, as a week after she won her first WTA title in Nürnberg, she secured her second WTA title and first on grass with a defeat of Kirsten Flipkens in Saturday's final. Among her noteworthy stats of late:

- Dating back to qualifying in Rome, where she reached her first Premier-level semifinal, she has won 16 of her last 18 matches - including 10 straight.
- She recorded three Top 20 wins in 's-Hertogenbosch and has won six of her last seven matches against Top 20 opponents.
- She is the fifth Romanian to win multiple WTA titles after 11-time winner Virginia Ruzici, four-time winner Ruxanda Dragomir-Ilie, four-time winner Irina Spirlea and two-time winner Alexandra Dulgheru.
- She became 's-Hertogenbosch's second Romanian winner after Dragomir-Ilie in 1997.
- She became the fifth player to capture WTA titles on multiple surfaces so far this season:
Simona Halep: clay, grass
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova: clay, hard
Maria Sharapova: clay, hard
Elena Vesnina: grass, hard
Serena Williams: clay, grass hard

Vesnina Victorious In Eastbourne
Elena Vesnina picked up her second WTA title, both of which have come this year, at the Aegon International with a victory over Jamie Hampton in Saturday's final. Among her feats in Eastbourne:
- She collected her fifth Top 10 win over No.6 Li Na in the quarterfinals.
- She became the third Russian to win Eastbourne after Svetlana Kuznetsova in 2004 and Ekaterina Makarova in 2010.
- Eastbourne was the seventh WTA title won by a Russian so far this season, more than any other country. Here are the Russian winners:
Maria Kirilenko: Pattaya City
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova: Monterrey, Oeiras
Maria Sharapova: Indian Wells, Stuttgart
Elena Vesnina: Hobart, Eastbourne

Doubles Winners
Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik netted their fourth WTA title as a pairing and third this year in Eastbourne, in the process tying Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci for most by a duo in 2013. Petrova now has 24 WTA doubles titles to her name, while Srebotnik has 33 - fourth-most among active players.

At the Topshelf Open, Irina-Camelia Begu and Anabel Medina Garrigues were victorious in match tie-breaks in all four of their matches. In the last of those, Friday's final against Dominika Cibulkova and Arantxa Parra Santonja, they overcame a match point in the match tie-break. The last time a title-winning duo was extended to match tie-breaks in each of their matches was at Acapulco in 2011 when Mariya Koryttseva and Raluca Olaru did so.

's-Hertogenbosch was Begu's second WTA doubles title and Medina Garrigues' 20th - two of which have come in 's-Hertogenbosch. The Spaniard joined a list of 11 active players with at least 20 WTA doubles titles:
1. Lisa Raymond: 79
2. Cara Black: 55
3. Liezel Huber: 53
4. Katarina Srebotnik: 33
5t. Janette Husarova: 25
5t. Kveta Peschke: 25
7. Nadia Petrova: 24
