BAD GASTEIN, Austria - Yvonne Meusburger defeated Karin Knapp in the semifinals of the NÜRNBERGER Gastein Ladies on Saturday to move within touching distance of her first WTA title.

Breaks at the end of the first and start of the second sets helped Meusburger to a 64 63 victory and a place in her second final in as many weeks. Here she will face Andrea Hlavackova, who booked her spot with a hard-fought win over Elina Svitolina.

"I'm really happy to be in the final here," Meusburger said. "I didn't play spectacular tennis, I just tried to be consistent.

"I was trying to play more to the forehand side to try and open up the backhand and I think this tactic worked out well.

"She was playing so well and hitting it so hard that sometimes I just had to keep the ball in play and wait for her mistakes."

Last Sunday, Meusburger lost out to Simona Halep in the final in Budapest, and she is hoping home advantage will make the difference against Hlavackova on Sunday.

"I've always had good results here," Meusburger, who finished runner-up in Bad Gastein in 2007, added. "I'm sure I'll get goose bumps in the final, but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm sure I will get great support from the crowd once again and hopefully I can send them home happy!"

Prior to this week, Hlavackova had never been beyond the quarterfinals of a WTA event, yet she looked far from overawed against Svitolina, coming from a break down in the final set to triumph, 57 76(1) 64.

"I'm very happy I got through because it was a very close match," Hlavackova said. "It could have been over in two sets, but we both fought all the way.

"There were a lot of ups and downs but it feels great to win such a mentally tough match. It was my first semifinal today and now I will play in my first final tomorrow."
