THIRTEEN's American Masters features a sports figure for the first time, as American Masters Billie Jean King - profiling the most important female athlete of the 20th century - airs tonight at 8pm on PBS.

NEW YORK, NY, USA - THIRTEEN's American Masters will profile a sports figure for the first time, with the show American Masters Billie Jean King airing at 8pm tonight, September 10, on PBS.

To commemorate the 40th anniversaries of the Billie Jean King Vs Bobby Riggs 'Battle Of The Sexes' match and the founding of the WTA, the new documentary will trace the incredible life of the single and most important female athlete of the 20th century, as the WTA legend's 70th birthday approaches.

The documentary features interviews with King, the Williams sisters, Maria Sharapova, Chris Evert, Rosie Casals, Margaret Court, Hillary Clinton, Sir Elton John and Gloria Steinem, among others.

"I am thrilled American Masters is choosing to showcase my journey as we celebrate so many historic anniversaries in my ongoing commitment to social justice and equality," King said of the documentary. "It is an honor to be the first athlete profiled in the 27-year history of American Masters, and I'm looking forward to bringing our message of equality to audiences of all ages and all backgrounds."
