BEIJING, China - They may have joined forces a little late to qualify for Istanbul, but Cara Black and Sania Mirza are certainly finishing 2013 in some style.

The two, who have 74 career doubles titles between them, joined forces for the first time in Tokyo where they went on to lift the title, and they have carried on this rich vein of form on the other side of the East China Sea.

On Friday, they defeated top seeds and joint World No.1s Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci, 64 64, to reach the China Open final where they will face the week's surprise package, Vera Dushevina and Arantxa Parra Santonja.

In an evenly matched contest, service breaks in the final game of each set proved to be the difference between the teams and after the match Mirza was full of praise for her new teammate.

"We are opposites on court," Mirza said. "I have big power from the back of the court and Cara has great hands, she has by far the best hands on the women's tour. We are tough to get past as a team."

Despite their immediate success, Mirza, whose regular partner, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, is currently injured, refused to be drawn on the future. "The picture will be a lot clearer once we are done here in Beijing. This is my last tournament of the year. After that, we'll see." she said.

Like their final opponents, Dushevina and Parra Santonja are a relatively green team. Beijing is just their third tournament together, but they were certainly not lacking for on-court cohesion at the end of their match, reeling off the final six points to stun No.2 seeds Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai, 36 61 108.
