Angelique Kerber

ISTANBUL, Turkey - Seven spots at the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships - Istanbul 2013 are set: Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Agnieszka Radwanska, Li Na, Petra Kvitova, Sara Errani and Jelena Jankovic (Maria Sharapova would have made it but had to withdraw with a shoulder injury).

Which players are still in the running for the eighth and final spot in the season finale?

The Frontrunner: Angelique Kerber
~ Kerber can secure the eighth and final spot by...
reaching the SFs in Linz this week (plays QF against Patricia Mayr-Achleitner on Friday)
OR
reaching the QFs in Moscow next week

If Kerber doesn't do either of the above, the following players have a chance at the final spot:

Caroline Wozniacki
needs to win Luxembourg next week

Sloane Stephens
needs to win Linz this week and Luxembourg next week

Roberta Vinci
needs to win Moscow next week

Can Kerber wrap up the elite eight in Istanbul by reaching the semifinals in Linz? Watch this space...
