Quotable Quotes: Istanbul, Saturday
Serena Williams

ISTANBUL, Turkey - Why was Li Na's goal for the year No.3? What's the only thing she remembers about her only win over Serena Williams? Who are Petra Kvitova and Jelena Jankovic picking in the final? All four semifinalists spoke to the press after their matches on Saturday - here they are...

Li d Kvitova, 64 62

Petra Kvitova
On the match...
"I used a lot of energy yesterday. I was ready to fight again today, but unfortunately I didn't have enough to beat her. She played really well. She did everything well today. I didn't have many chances."

On Li's chances against Serena in the final...
"There's always a chance, for sure, but I think Serena is the favorite. Li Na played really well this tournament, but I think if I have to be honest, I would say the chances are like 70% for Serena."

Li Na
On reaching her goal of making the Top 3...

"I caught my goal - Top 3 in the world. We made the goal at the beginning of the year. I don't know - maybe it's lucky that it was at the last tournament of the year. It's a pretty good ending to 2013."

On why No.3 was the goal...
"I'd like to be No.1, of course, but my highest ranking was No.4, so I wanted to improve on that."

On playing Serena in the final...
"At the US Open I think I already lost the match before I came to the court, so maybe now I have to try to focus on what I should do on the court, not what she's doing on the court. I have to play my game.

"Tomorrow is the last day of the season for me. After tomorrow I have vacation. So it's the most exciting time for me. I don't have any pressure, no pressure at all. I feel really relaxed about it."

On her win over Serena at Stuttgart in 2008...
"I lost the first set, 6-0 - I think it was a pretty good comeback!"

On whether she remembers anything from the actual match...
"No, because when I won the match I was like, 'Okay, I won.' I didn't even know what happened."

Serena d Jankovic, 64 26 64

Jelena Jankovic
On the match...

"Overall, I enjoyed the occasion. It was a fun match to play. It was difficult at times to focus when she was serving slower, and then all of a sudden she started serving so fast and you don't know what's happening. It's difficult to play when she's doing that. But it was important for me to focus on me.

"In the third set it was 5-1 for her and I was one point away to level it to 5-all, and she hit that ace, which was such a great angle, and unfortunately I lost 6-4 in the third. But it was a fun match."

On Serena...
"She's the No.1 player in the world. She's by far the best player. She deserves to be in this spot."

On Li's chances against Serena in the final...
"Li Na is playing very well, as well. I think Li Na is in incredible form. But Serena is playing so well, too. I think it's going to be a great match to watch. I think both of them really deserve to be in the finals.

"I think the fans are going to enjoy a fun match."

Serena Williams
On the mid-match slump...

"Physically I think I was fine. I don't know. I just hit a wall. I was so tired. Well, physically I was so tired just even standing. I think I've just played a lot of tennis this year. Just after a while I felt like a big rush of air came out of me, and I really had to pull myself through that match. I don't know how I did it.

"But I never give up, and even though I physically felt really exhausted, I just thought I've got to keep fighting this point, this point. I was really proud of myself to pull that out, because even in the first set I was really, really concerned how I was going to make it through two sets, let alone three sets."

On how she'll rebound for the final...
"Right now I'm running on empty. We'll see. I'm going to try to put some gas in the tank tonight, go to the gas station and fill up. We'll see what I can do. I'm really proud how I stayed out there today.

"But obviously everyone gets pumped up for the final. I hope I'll get some adrenaline going tomorrow."

On Li...
"She's playing really well. She's such a good player. She moves so well. Playing her you have to be physically, more than anything, ready to play. And I will be ready. I have to be. I have no choice."
