NANJING, China - Jarmila Gajdosova was victorious in three sets on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Nanjing Ladies Open, where she will be joined by marathon woman Ayumi Morita.

Gajdosova had gotten as high as No.25 in 2011 but after being plagued by injuries and early round losses recently actually came into this week at No.300.

But in Nanjing, Gadjosova has shown flashes of her former form in beating a host of Asian opponents - two Chinese players in qualifying, Thailand's Peangtarn Plipuech in the first round, Japan's Misaki Doi in the second round and China's Wang Qiang in the quarterfinals.

Gajdosova's latest match saw her reel off five straight games from 1-1 in the third set for a 63 26 61 defeat of Wang.

"Wasn't pretty but fought hard, ran hard and I made it to the semifinals," Gajdosova tweeted. "A win is a win. Nobody can take that away from me."

Next up for Gajdosova is yet another Asian, fourth-seeded Japanese Morita. A day after saving seven match points in a win over Petra Martic that lasted just under three hours, Morita saved one match point in the third set and took three hours and 10 minutes to beat eighth-seeded Anna Schmiedlova, 67(8) 76(0) 75.

Saturday's other semifinal will see No.2 seed Yanina Wickmayer take on No.3 seed Zhang Shuai. Wickmayer was a 63 64 winner over Anna-Lena Friedsam, and Zhang eased past fellow Chinese Zheng Saisai, 61 62.

Zhang appears to be in the best form of the semifinalists, having dropped just 10 games all week and having now won 14 of her past 17 matches dating back to September in Guangzhou, where she captured her first WTA title.

Zhang is still alive in the doubles too, as she and Yaroslava Shvedova will play Julia Glushko and Olga Savchuk in Saturday's semifinals - with the winners taking on Doi and Xu Yi-Fan in the final.
