TAIPEI, Chinese Taipei - Yanina Wickmayer continued her recent good form in recording a routine win over Olga Govortsova in the second round of the OEC Taipei WTA Ladies Open on Thursday.

The former World No.12 stopped a rankings slide with a semifinal showing at the WTA 125K Series event last week in Nanjing and after a 63 64 defeat of Govortsova, her third win in three meetings in their series, is now a victory away from another semifinal outing.

"She's tough to beat, so I'm very happy about my performance and am excited to be in the quarterfinals," Wickmayer said.

"Taipei is a great city. I got a chance to go out for dinner and do some shopping, which was very nice. I'm really enjoying my time here."

No.2 seed Wickmayer's quarterfinal foe will be Zheng Saisai, and another win would be the 300th of her career.

Wickmayer is the only seed remaining in the draw, as the other match involving a seeded player saw Dinah Pfizenmaier fire 12 aces en route to a 64 57 60 triumph over seventh-seeded Misaki Doi.

"My serve was very good today, and when my serve is working, that rubs off on my other strokes," Pfizenmaier said. "I'm very happy to be in the quarterfinals."

Next up for Pfizenmaier is Katarzyna Piter. Friday's other quarterfinals will see Petra Martic take on Luksika Kumkhum and Alison Van Uytvanck square off with Ekaterina Bychkova. Interestingly enough, Van Uytvanck just beat Bychkova in the quarters of the ITF Women's Circuit event in Taipei last week.
