Klemenschits Charity Event A Success
Together We Are Stronger

ANIF, Austria - The third edition of Sandra Klemenschits' Together We Are Stronger charity event was held last Saturday at the GM-Sports Resort in Anif, Austria.

Read more about the event at the Together We Are Stronger Facebook page.

Sandra and her twin sister, Daniela, were forced to leave the tour in 2007 after both were diagnosed with a rare form of abdominal cancer. Sandra recovered and returned to the tour the following year. In fact, she captured her first WTA doubles title earlier this year in Bad Gastein. Unfortunately, Daniela passed away in 2008.

Consequentially, Sandra Klemenschits and her coach, Gerald Mandl, organized a charity event to benefit young cancer patients starting in 2011.

This year's event included a tennis tournament and a gala with a raffle and on-stage music. The tournament featured athletes Sabrina Jolk, Sybille Bammer, Petra Russegger, Harald Mair, Thomas Geierspichler, Werner Eschauer, Adriana Barna, Caroline Schneider, Manuela Riegler and Emilio Álvarez teaming up with 10 companies. The company Panaceo, featuring Mair, was victorious.

"The charity raised approximately €15,000, which will be given to a young cancer patient," Klemenschits said. "It was a great day in the memory of Dani Klemenschits and therefore for me a very emotional memory. It was her wish to play charities. Altogether, it has been a great success and we are looking forward to the next event!"
