Chris Evert, Eugenie Bouchard

SINGAPORE - We caught up with Chris Evert during the Road To Singapore launch event on Monday. Here's what she said about her trip, Eugenie Bouchard and more - and check out some of her tweets!

On her trip to Singapore...
"It was better than I could ever have imagined. The people were fantastic, they were hospitable, they're so excited about the top women coming here, and their enthusiasm made me very enthusiastic."

On being an ambassador for the WTA Championships...
"When Stacey asked me to be an ambassador I was very honored. I've always viewed the WTA Championships as a fifth Grand Slam and very, very important to the women who play week in and week out, who want to be consistent and count their points for the year-end Championships. I just have a very high regard for the WTA Championships. It's the culmination of the whole year."

On her favorite part of Monday's Road To Singapore launch event...
"It would probably be getting to know Genie Bouchard. It was really fun to hang out with her all day, do press with her, see how focused and determined she is, and how she has her feet on the ground. Her No.1 thing is when she goes home she doesn't celebrate her Australian Open semifinal, she'll work harder than she ever has. She understands that everyone's going to be gunning for her now and the pressure's on her a little bit more. So probably just spending time with her and getting to know her."

On the inspirational forum she and Bouchard did with local kids...
"To see those girls looking at us, listening to us talk about setting goals and really working hard at something you enjoy and feeling good about yourself in the process, and just giving them some hope and some inspiration that they can find the thing they love - if not tennis, something else they want...

"Just giving them that hope and inspiration, it meant a lot to me."
